By the title of this article, I do not mean that I'm suggesting solutions to challenges faced by learners in various fields of learning. There is not a uniform solution to problems in different subjects. Neither am I indicating that you can improve your school grades by following my tips. However, there must be ways that help greatly reduce unnecessary waste of precious time spent finding solutions to difficult problems in your study. Note that I'm not preaching universal laws or general rules in dealing with difficulties in one's study but only sharing my personal experience that has helped save my time and relieve me of my agony.
Nearly everyone must have had such unforgettable experience where they are frustrated by a certain difficult problem but are not willing to give up for the moment until they find out the solution if any. People stuck in such situations often have a conviction that they should be able to solve the problem by themselves. If they cannot, they will typically begin to question their intelligence and their self-pride will get hurt. Like many people, I used to suffer a lot in times of such a psychological Waterloo. Once, I struggled to attack a geometry problem well into midnight but to no avail and woke up to find myself still at the desk. In quagmires like this, the best way out is to practice the wisdom of knowing when to stop. If you have been working on a problem for pretty much time without yet any clue, just stop for the moment and have a rest or divert your attention to something else. When you come back to the same problem after a while, you may have a different frame of mind or an inspiration will suggest itself to you. We have to realize and admit that however intelligent we may think we are, we can't cover any problem at all times.
In case we still cannot solve a problem even after we take a while or more away from it, the best policy then is to seek help from others. Many people have no problem of adopting this clever trick but still others would often opt to stop short of it. What blocks these people from asking for help remains the same. They don't think they need help from others and they are convinced that their mental power is strong enough to crack the problem. In fact, it is possible that other people have already worked out a solution or a better one. The only thing for those over-confident people to do to help themselves out of trouble is stop to ask for help. Of course, this means that they have to admit to their limits, which is a limit for them in itself. Nowadays, people are luckier because in addition to asking for help from others vis-a-vis, they have more options, like throwing their questions online and just waiting for answers to pour in. That makes life a little easier for a proud one. Anyway, your helper knows little about you. You get a solution without losing your face very much.
All in all, the above two strategies are not anything new to anyone. Nor are they very effective ways to solve any problem. What they serve to help is to save your precious time that may be otherwise wasted away for nothing. Both strategies require only one and the same thing: realizing your limits and having an open mind.
